LATEST NEWS FROM THE BODRUM CUP

The Bodrum Cup turns out to become a race among businessmen. More and more businessmen take part in the Regatta every year. In addition to some of them like Murat Dedeman who takes part since the races has started, Mr Halit Narina and Ali Sen also shows interest in the last years.

Also, another businessman from Maleysia who built the first RINA Charter Yacht Class- MCA boat in Turkey, is a challenging rival for the cup with his boat “AEGEAN” of 41 meters.

Around 50 members from International press will follow the races.

The briefing day 24th October will be colored by activities organized by Bodrum municipality, in Iskele square. In the evening Izmir Municipality City Ochestra will play a big concert in Bodrum Milta Marina.

There will be slide shows from last year’s Bodrum Cup prepared by photograph artists Mrs. Gulumser Iscelebi and Mr. Ali Oz on the evening of 24th October in Bodrum Milta Marina.
Race will start on Thursday, 25th October, and yachts will spend the night in Yalikavak, where they will be entertained by group For a – which has made the Bodrum Cup song. They will play popular songs by guitar.
Second race day will finish in Gundogan, Greek singer Galis will play his most beloved songs for sailors. Also The Best and The Fanciest Dressed team contest will take place in Gundogan.

“The Circle of Love” will be formed in Gumusluk this year. After the cocktail in Gumusluk Gusta Restaurant between 18:00 – 20:00 hrs, Group Camminando will get on the stage and play best napoliten and jazz songs in the center of “Circle of Love”.
After the last finish in Bodrum, there will be a prizegiving ceremony in Halikarnas The Club. Winners will get special gifts from main sponsor Tekirdag Rakisi. Also Scania Marine Engines will present discount checks to award winning yachts.

ISMAIL OZYURT LEADS AMONG YACHTMASTERS

Bodrum Cup creates rivals not only amongst sailors, but also yacht builders. In the previous years, shipwright Mr. Ismail Ozyurt won the Bodrum Cup with his two boats, “KAYA GUNERI III” and “CARPE DIEM”. Other shipwrights who won the cup are: Mr. Etem Başeğmez four times with his “AYAZ”, Mr. Ahmet Sezer three times with his “RANDA” and Mr. Yılmaz Dinç three times with his “SELENE”, Mr. Mercan Mehmet Nalbantoğlu twice with his “GRANDI”, Mr. Hayrettin Tok & Akın Alpar once with their “NOSTALGIA”, Mr. Mehmet Salih once with his “CANIM”, Mr. Hüseyin Çoban once with his “AKIN’A”.
Everyone wonders which yachtmaster will win the next Cup on 28th October.

We have the honour to inform you that the 19th Bodrum Cup International Wooden Yacht Regatta will take place between 24 – 28 October 2007 for the 19th time, under organization of Era Bodrum Sailing Club.
Tekirdag Raki is the main sponsor and NTV & NTV Radio are the press sponsors of the Regatta.
The Regatta every year gathers around 100 yachts and 1500 participants in Bodrum town. This year, organization will form a floating city amongst scenic harbours of Bodrum Peninsula. Many colorful activities will take place.
Organization will start with music and shows at the Iskele square all day long on October 24, and a traditional bell will be rung at the opening cocktail in Milta Bodrum Marina giving the symbolic start for the next day.
On 25th October, yachts will start racing from Karaada until Y ali kavak at “NTV course”. Municip ali ty of Y ali kavak will host the participants for the night. Group Fora will play music in the evening.
Second course will end in Gundogan. This race is named after beloved seamen that we lost in 2007, Mr. Hamdi Can Giz and Mr. Demir Duru. Gallis will play the best Greek songs for sailors. Later on, The best and The fanciest dressed team contest will take place as every year.
Third course is named after another esteemed sailor that we lost, Mr. Erdogan Erbagi. The course will end in Gumusluk. Participant yachts will form the “Circle of Love” one more time, this time in Gumusluk bay. In the center, there will be music all through the night.
Last course, “Mugla Chambers of Commerce Course” will end in Bodrum, the prizegiving ceremony will take place in H ali karnas the Club. The organization will come to an end, making new friends as it does every year.
